What You Will Do

Guidehouse is seeking a highly experienced Software Programmer – SME to support a large-scale federal technology modernization program operating within secure and classified environments.

This role serves as a senior technical authority responsible for architecting, modernizing, and sustaining complex enterprise applications supporting mission-critical operations. The selected candidate will guide engineering direction, lead development efforts, mentor technical teams, and drive implementation of secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.

The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with proven technical leadership experience across enterprise application architecture, modernization initiatives, DevSecOps practices, cloud technologies, and secure software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical leader for design, development, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise software solutions.
  • Architect secure, scalable, and resilient applications supporting complex business and mission workflows.
  • Lead modernization initiatives involving cloud migration, application re-platforming, API development, containerization, and service decomposition.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, architecture patterns, and reusable frameworks.
  • Guide implementation of DevSecOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure software delivery practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, infrastructure engineers, and cybersecurity teams to deliver integrated technical solutions.
  • Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, solution design sessions, and engineering planning activities.
  • Provide mentorship and technical direction to developers and engineering teams.
  • Support complex troubleshooting efforts, operational issue resolution, performance optimization, and application sustainment activities.
  • Ensure solutions align with security, compliance, operational, and technical requirements.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, technical designs, implementation guides, and engineering artifacts.

What You Will Need

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Twelve (12)+ years of progressive software development experience with demonstrated technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Eight (8)+ years developing highly complex enterprise applications and software solutions.
  • Experience serving as a software architect, technical lead, software engineering lead, or senior software developer supporting enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience with modern programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise APIs, system integrations, distributed applications, and database-driven solutions.
  • Experience leading Agile software delivery teams and supporting modern application development practices.
  • Experience supporting secure, compliance-driven federal environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and leadership skills.

What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation technologies.
  • Experience with containerization platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with microservices architectures, event-driven systems, and distributed application patterns.
  • Experience supporting cloud modernization and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53, RMF, STIGs, secure coding practices, and authorization requirements.
  • Experience supporting classified, national security, intelligence community, or other highly regulated environments.
  • AWS, Azure, Security+, CISSP, CKA, or related technical certifications.

The annual salary range for this position is $100,100.00-$150,400.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
