Full Job Description
Teradyne is looking for a Software Engineering Manager & Leader with great coaching and communication skills to oversee all aspects of software engineering support focusing on our High-Speed Subsystem (HSSub) product line. This group consists of Software Engineers of various experience levels, responsible for both instrument drivers and software tools. The role will manage 8-10 individual contributors.
  • Hiring, mentoring and retention of software engineering staff
  • Cultivating a diverse and inclusive, collaborative, positive team culture where everyone has impact, feels engaged and motivated, and can grow on their own personal journey
  • Determining staffing levels and skills needed to satisfy all product development commitments
  • Directing work of software engineers to ensure best practices around software development
  • Awareness of industry software innovation to separate the trendy from the difference makers
  • Establishing and maintaining a collaborative working environment
  • Establishing and maintaining engineering development processes throughout the product lifecycle stages

  • Strong leadership skills & demonstrated leadership experience with engineering teams
  • Knowledge of software development processes and lifecycles
  • Ability to manage tradeoffs with regards to cost, cycle time, productivity, and predictability
  • Knowledge of standard project management concepts
  • Solid verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with non-Software teams
  • Commitment to excellence, efficiency, and product quality
  • Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or equivalent AI Agentic Tooling
  • Technical abilities: Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages: C/C++, C#. Experience with .NET, Azure DevOps, Familiarity with UI/UX design and OOP/OOD
  • Familiar with Software Development life cycles. Experience working in Agile or scrum environment
  • Must be able to be onsite in North Reading, MA 3+ days/week,
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science and have a history of development of software for hardware products with a minimum of 3+ years of experience.
ITAR Restriction: All candidates for this ITAR restricted position must be one of the following: US Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee, Refugee or otherwise lawfully admitted under an amnesty program. Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $165,700 - $265,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location. Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
