What you'll do/learn:
  • Build and lead one of eBay's Global Shipping teams, hire new engineers, develop individuals and team.
  • Work closely with your team, product owners and external partners to plan and enable our product delivery by carefully balancing this with the needs of technical improvements and superb software quality.
  • Advocate and advance our agile and engineering practices, constantly improve product and code quality, and our architecture -- building micro-services, migrating legacy applications, proposing new tools and changing/improving processes.
  • Build services that solve hard business problems, complex distributed systems problems that scale to serve millions of customers every day.

  • Agility: With your experience and drive, you can help our team innovate further in agility and efficiency.
  • Experience: You have 5+ years of experience in managing and leading an engineering team. You have experience in managing tech leads, other engineering managers across different locations and time zones.
  • Collaboration: You can bring people from different teams and fields together and lead towards a common goal - globally across locations and time zones.

  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading engineering teams, working on web scale, distributed systems
  • A minimum of 5+ years of work experience building massively distributed systems, managing engineering teams of up to 20 engineers and leaders (both development and quality).
  • A deep technical understanding to influence and own the technical roadmap for your domain.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and full understanding of what it takes to operate in a very dynamic, fast-paced and results oriented environment.
  • Prior successful experience leading large scale change management.
  • A proven track record for product delivery.
  • A compelling leadership style that includes exceptional people management skills and a track record of grooming high-performance teams.
