Job Purpose

  • Honda's Dealer and FieldLink Applications Unit Manager leads the delivery and operations of Honda's dealer and field platforms - Interactive Network (iN) and FieldLink - serving dealers, field personnel, and internal AHM staff across all Honda and Acura product lines in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Export regions.
  • You will manage multiple software development teams to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective applications across sales, service, parts, training, and financing - from core business transactions and DMS integrations to content publishing, search, and reporting. This role is critical to driving alignment between the unit's delivery and the strategic objectives of the Sales, Parts, & Service Applications Department and the AHM IT Business Unit.
  • The Unit Manager provides strategic direction, governance, and leadership for the portfolio. This role drives continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with SOX and cybersecurity standards and is responsible for shaping the technology roadmap and delivering solutions that address evolving business needs. The Unit Manager enforces IT policies, procedures, and best practices across the portfolio. Through strong partnerships with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendor partners, this role ensures the delivery of reliable, high-quality solutions that build trust, enhance dealer and field satisfaction, and support Honda's growth and strategic objective.


Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Development:
    • Defines and drives the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Dealer and Field platforms, ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise IT architecture. Provides IT leadership to advance platform modernization, integration, security, and scalability. Stays current with emerging technologies and trends, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, drive innovation, and strengthen Honda's competitive position.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Builds trusted relationships across North America, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to align on priorities and deliver IT solutions that meet evolving business needs. Leverages influence and collaboration to support strategic objectives. Key partners include AHM IT, American Honda business units, Honda Canada, Honda Mexico, Export units, and external vendors.
  • Unit Performance Management:
    • Achieves unit objectives across schedule, budget, and quality commitments while ensuring reliable service operations. Drives service availability and timely resolution of incidents and problems. Maintains compliance with governance standards, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity through monitoring and effective vulnerability management. Leverages tools and best practices to manage risk and sustain operational performance.
  • People & Resource Management:
    • Builds and leads a high-performing IT application development organization of experienced technical professionals. Provides strong technical leadership to guide delivery, uphold engineering standards, and drive solution quality through depth of expertise and sound technical judgment. Effectively directs and motivates teams by understanding complex challenges and providing clear guidance. Develops team capability through coaching, mentoring, and performance management, while ensuring contingent staff alignment through defined expectations and governance. Fosters an engaged team environment and establishes role redundancy to support operational resilience and business continuity.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications:
    • Must have a 4-year Bachelors level college degree / diploma in STEM / Management / Applied Economics or a similar field of study
  • Minimum Experience
    • At least 10 or more years in Information Technology with a strong foundation in application development, integration and enterprise platforms
    • At least 5 or more years of leadership experience managing multiple technical teams, including developers, architects, and business systems analysts.
    • Demonstrated experience delivering complex application portfolios or multiple systems in a cross-functional environment.
    • Proven ability to provide technical leadership, including guiding solution design, integration, and delivery execution.
    • Experience managing vendor partners and cross-team coordination in a multi-system environment.
    • Working knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance, including SOX and cybersecurity fundamentals.
    • Experience contributing to technology roadmap planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
    • Automotive industry, product ownership, or dealer domain knowledge preferred.
    • Experience with Dealer Communication Systems (DCS) or similar enterprise portal platforms is desirable.
    • Experience with client-server, SaaS, and PaaS architectures preferred.
  • Other Job-Specific Skills:
    • Experience in management level presentations.
    • Strong understanding of project management principles.
    • Understanding of customer/production support and product operation.
    • Experience with hybrid Agile methodology and DevOps.
    • Technical understanding of mobile, web, client/server, services-based solutions.
    • General understanding of cybersecurity concepts, IT architecture.
    • Experience with Dealer or Field system solutions desirable.
    • Strong technical and problem-solving skills; able to be "hands-on" guiding team if needed.
    • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Prior automotive industry experience wll be an asset.
