Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Bridge the space between coding and company leadership. As our Software Engineering Lead, you will partner directly with the Director of Engineering to mentor our software team, scale our development processes, and architect the future of OK International's next-generation product ecosystem. In this role, you will close any gaps between hardware and software, designing system-level architectures for our global portfolio of precision tech-including advanced soldering, rework, and dispensing systems. JOB DUTIES
  • Lead software engineering and create a stimulating work environment that delivers on project needs and fosters growth.
  • Develop and maintain software engineering processes for development, testing, release, and deployment for embedded systems.
  • Bridge the space between engineering and product management to define software ecosystem for OK International's product portfolios.
  • Perform software reviews and be involved with requirements analyses, system risk analyses, software reliability analysis.
  • Mentor software engineers on good coding practices, testing, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Compile data and prepare reports regarding the software project tasks.Participate in projects of significant complexity and scope involving state-of-the-art soldering equipment and dispensing equipment.
  • Member of a multifunctional project team delivering new product launches on time and within budget. This includes conferring with engineers, product managers, and others to detail engineering projects and products.
  • Involvement in the generation of system and sub-system software specifications, proposals, and creation of proof of concepts.
  • Designing, coding, and debugging applications for prototypes and production systems. These systems include microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and direct user interfaces.
  • Development and implementation of software testing and quality assurance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 7 years of active experience in embedded software and systems development.
  • 2 years of leading projects and/or technical teams
  • Experience with Agile software development process, scrum master preferred.
  • Strong analytic background, with understanding of microcontroller, digital control/feedback circuits, and user interfaces.
  • Desired experience on systems that require understanding of motion, fluid dynamics, and/or thermal dynamics.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills of functional teams with direct reporting.

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • In depth knowledge of C/C++ programming. Knowledge of assembly language a plus.
  • Microcontroller PIC and ARM programing skills.
  • In depth experience with SPI, I2C, RS232, USB, TCP/IP communication protocols
  • Experience with RTOS like Free-RTOS or Linux
  • Familiarity with IoT, Industry 4.0, and/or IPC CFX a plus.
  • Hardware/software debugging using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, in-circuit emulators, etc.
  • Ability to clearly document and explain system implementation and algorithms to non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical publications, professional journals, and governmental regulations as appropriate.

  • High level of creativity and inventiveness.
  • Ability to work in both a team and as an individual.
  • Understanding of convection heating, conduction heating, fluid dispensing, motion control, or vision systems a plus.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • BS in Computer Science with 10 years minimum experience involving job responsibilities mentioned above.
  • MS in Computer Science is a plus.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, and utilize hand and finger dexterity to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, smell, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more with assistance. Work Arrangement : Onsite

Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
