Position Summary:As a member of our R&D group, you will work in small cross-functional scrum teams consisting of software developers, engineers, and testers. You will influence the design and have a vital role in development of software components for use in Vecima's varied product offerings. We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong experience in Linux-based, containerized environments, and a deep understanding of systems and network programming. The ideal candidate is proficient in C/C++, and experienced with Go and Python, capable of building robust, scalable software in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This role supports the development of advanced networking and broadband platforms, with a focus on quality, performance, and deployment flexibility using modern infrastructure tools.
Duties include (but are not limited to):- Design and develop software for networking systems deployed in Linux environments.
- Write clean, maintainable code in C/C++, Go, and Python.
- Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks and quality gates.
- Implement containerized services within a Linux-based infrastructure.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions across platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve issues spanning hardware interfaces, network protocols, and distributed systems.
Position requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development within Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong programming skills in C or C++, with additional experience in Go and Python.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD, and debugging best practices.
- Experience working with containerized application environments and orchestrators.
Preferred skills:- Proficiency in networking protocols: TCP/IP, UDP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, TFTP, etc.
- Experience with debugging and performance tools: GDB, Valgrind, Perf.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira.
- Familiarity with DOCSIS technologies: Remote PHY, Remote MACPHY, CCAP, vCMTS.
- Experience with DPDK and high-throughput packet processing architectures.
- Understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience developing for real-time systems, with attention to timing constraints, scheduling, and low-latency performance.
