Software EngineerDepartment: Development - Software Development
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Reporting To: Timothy Gradl
DescriptionLocation - Pittsburgh, USMore about the role & teamThis is a hands-on Software Engineer role on one of Confluence's largest products - where you'll help modernise a market-leading platform and shape how we bring emerging AI capabilities into production. You'll be a .NET / C# developer working across the wider ecosystem of the platform, rather than being tied to a single component.
What makes this role stand out is where we point your energy. You will be integrating LLMs and agent-based workflows into real products - not legacy maintenance. You'll get genuine exposure to problems where only a few people currently have the answers, with the support to figure them out alongside experienced lead engineers.
You'll join a highly collaborative team where engineers, product owners, QAs and project and product managers all help each other, with continuous learning and knowledge-sharing built into how we work. For ambitious people, there's real room to grow - we actively move people into the right places to progress.
What skills and experience do I need to succeed? We're looking for a .NET / C# engineer who is genuinely curious about AI and eager to apply it in their day-to-day work.
Essential requirements:
- Strong .NET / C# development experience - the core of the role
- Designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architecture
- A solid understanding of software design patterns and scalable architecture
- Experience working in agile development environments
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g. LLMs and coding assistants) to accelerate delivery and improve quality - and the ability to talk about how you've applied AI in practice
- Working knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React)
- Familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively across teams
- A self-starter and quick learner, comfortable working through new problems
- Around 2+ years' professional software engineering experience, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
Nice to have:
- Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally Azure
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and broader DevOps knowledge
- Python for automation or AI workflows
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering or agent-based systems
- Experience with containerisation
- Experience building or optimising developer-productivity tooling
