Full Job Description

This is a fully remote position. While we welcome applications from across Canada, we are giving priority to candidates located in Quebec at this time.

Who we are looking for:

As a talented full-stack developer, you will contribute your excellent technical design & coding skills, as well as your impressive productivity. You'll be a part of a brilliant, high-paced, customer- and quality-oriented team.

This role is very business logic intensive. You will thrive if:
  • you like being a programming generalist that directly impacts the lives of the customers.
  • are a self-starter who thrives without micromanagement ("a manager of one").
  • you prefer to write clean, readable, and maintainable code without overengineering things.
  • love math, algorithms & data structures.
  • enjoy and are open to learning, in-depth, how a company works and reports its activity.

The UI layout will take no more than 10% of your time, business logic implementation/bug fixing will be about 70%, and you can expect to spend up to 20% on technical design and shaping high-level user stories for new features.

Responsibilities
  • New feature development. A significant part of that will involve shaping high-level user stories into technical designs and discussing them with the stakeholders prior to the implementation.
  • Bug fixing.
  • Testing your own code with unit tests (and integration tests where needed).
  • Tech debt maintenance tasks and refactoring to ensure best engineering practices.
  • Selected engineers on the team will also eventually conduct code reviews.
  • Make sure the CI/CD pipelines are in smooth sailing mode. Occasional SSH into our development/production servers.

Requirements:
  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • College / university degree in a STEM field.
    • We are open to considering exceptional candidates without a degree with a proven track record of senior-level work.
  • Good written English skills.
  • Tech stack - Velixo primarily works with TypeScript and C# (ASP.NET Core 8), and knowledge of React is a significant plus. Additionally, experience with Docker, Nginx, and AWS would be valuable. We are also open to exceptional people from Java, Rust, or Go-based technical stacks who are open-switching. We would like someone who is proficient in at least some of those technologies, and ready to work with all of them.
  • Business-oriented mindset: someone who loves beautiful code but keeps the end goals in mind: making the customer happy and driving the company forward.
  • Experience working in an ERP industry and basic accounting knowledge is a plus.
