Full Job Description
STV's is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Digital Advisory Products group. You'll work directly with client teams to translate complex problems into well-designed, production-ready software-from initial concept through deployment and iteration. This role sits at the intersection of consulting and engineering: you'll spend as much time understanding the problem as you do writing the code.

We're a small, senior team that ships quickly, takes ownership end-to-end, and treats AI-assisted development as a core part of how we work-not a novelty.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build modern web applications (frontend, backend, and integrations) for client engagements
  • Partner with project leads, designers, and client stakeholders to scope features and define technical approach
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and similar) fluently as part of your daily workflow
  • Integrate LLMs, RAG pipelines, and other AI capabilities into client-facing products where they create real value
  • Translate ambiguous client requirements into clear technical plans and ship working software against them
  • Present work, tradeoffs, and recommendations to non-technical client audiences
  • Contribute to internal tooling, code reviews, and shared engineering practices

What we're Looking For

Required:
  • 3+ years building and shipping production web applications
  • Strong proficiency with a modern stack-React/TypeScript on the frontend and at least one server-side language (Node, Go, Python, or C#/.NET)
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools in real work-you can speak specifically to where they accelerate you, where they don't, and how you direct and review their output
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to clients and writing documentation that holds up
  • Experience working in client-facing, consulting, or product-services environments-or a clear interest in moving into one
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure or GCP preferred)

Nice to Have
  • Experience integrating LLMs, vector databases, or vision models into production applications
  • Background in infrastructure, transportation, AEC, or adjacent industries STV serves
  • Comfort working across the stack and picking up unfamiliar technologies quickly
  • Side projects, open-source contributions, or writing that demonstrates curiosity and craft

How You'll Work
  • Small team, short feedback loops, real ownership over what you ship
  • Iterate directly with clients-your work goes in front of users, not into a backlog
  • Bring a point of view; we expect engineers to push back, propose alternatives, and shape the product

Compensation Range:
$95,975.90 - $109,686.74
