The Role
As a Software Engineer Specialist reporting totheDirector - Software Engineering,you'llplay a critical role in building andmaintainingthe technology platforms that power Nasdaq's market operations.You'llown the development and reliability of a complex, high-performance client-server web platform that supports real-time financial activity and exchange operations at scale.
You'llthrive in this position ifyou'retechnically sharp, solutions-oriented, and energized by working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where your work directly supports the integrity of global markets.
Design, develop, andmaintainscalable backend services, APIs, and web applications using Java and modern web technologies.
Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure reliable integration, deployment, and support across Linux-based environments.
Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong understanding of client-server architectures, API development, system integration, multi-threaded programming, and performance optimization.
Proven ability to build, deploy, and support secure, scalable, and high-performing systems while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Experience working in capital markets, trading systems, fintech, or other regulated financial environments.
Familiarity with real-time data processing, event-driven architectures, low-latency systems, and market connectivity protocols such as FIX.
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and systemmonitoringor observability tools.
This position willbe located inNew York and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
