Position Overview:

Praescient Analytics is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Software Engineer - Senior to provide technical leadership and big-picture oversight for the National Industrial Security System (NISS)-the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency's (DCSA) secure, cloud-based system of record.

In this role, you will articulate the architectural vision, conceptualize and experiment with alternative technical approaches, and validate system architecture against rigorous national security requirements. Working without supervision on highly complex projects, you will bridge the gap between secure backend architecture and modern user interfaces within a cutting-edge AWS GovCloud environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and exercise wide latitude for independent judgment to create solutions that protect our nation's most sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Vision & Leadership: Conceptualize, experiment with, and articulate alternative technical approaches. Create model, component, and interface specification documents, validating the architecture against strict federal requirements and assumptions.
  • Full-Stack Integration: Provide technical and big-picture oversight for the development of new or enhanced data source integrations, utilizing Java as a core backend competency and React/MFE for frontend architecture.
  • Cloud Transformation & Modernization: Lead the modernization of the IT system and its transformation to the cloud, designing and implementing cloud-native software solutions specifically optimized for AWS and AWS GovCloud.
  • API & Gateway Management: Deeply engage with API gateways, Web Services, and RESTful APIs to seamlessly and securely integrate complex data components built by both internal teams and third parties.
  • DevSecOps & Automation Leadership: Drive CI/CD automation and DevSecOps practices to increase code delivery velocity, ensuring robust system integrity and automated compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product developers, business analysts, product managers, and customer application experts to design features that enable critical mission capabilities. Provide technical advice across the program and potentially lead teams responsible for research and technical assistance.
  • Agile Requirements Optimization: Leverage Jira and Confluence to translate high-level client requirements into architectural features, user stories, and technical roadmaps.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clearance & Citizenship: Active U.S. Secret clearance is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen to meet federal contract mandates.
  • Education & Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field with 10-12 years of relevant software development and integration experience OR
    • Master's degree in a related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience OR
    • PhD in a related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Core Java & Framework Expertise: Deep, extensive integration proficiency in full-stack development with Core Java, Spring Boot, and handling data structures like JSON, XML, and XSD.
  • Advanced Frontend Skills: Demonstrated experience building scalable user interfaces using React, Micro Frontend Architecture (MFE), and React Material-UI (MUI).
  • AWS GovCloud Ecosystem: Comprehensive experience implementing cloud-native solutions within AWS and AWS GovCloud, specifically utilizing Microservices, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, CloudWatch, and DynamoDB.
  • Database Proficiency: Extensive knowledge and experience working with both Relational and NoSQL Databases (specifically Oracle and PostgreSQL).
  • Tools & DevSecOps: Expert proficiency with Git, popular CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and Confluence in an automated environment.
  • Autonomy & Communication: Proven ability to work without supervision on highly complex projects, exercising wide latitude for independent judgment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical visions to both engineering teams and senior stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret (TS) or TS/SCI clearance.
  • Prior experience providing architectural oversight or technical leadership directly on Department of Defense (DoD) or DCSA programs.
  • Advanced expertise in federal security compliance frameworks, zero-trust architecture, and identity access management in secure cloud environments.
