Job Description:
What is the opportunity? You have an analytical mind and a passion for the craft of software engineering, and you love solving problems and learning new things. Technologies come and go, but that excites you because of the endless possibilities it creates.
You are looking for an opportunity to work for a company whose software is utilized by every Fortune 500 company and significantly impacts every industry. You want to be a part of a collaborative environment whose teams care about the product they are creating, how they create it, and the impact it has on customers’ business objectives. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Design, build, and maintain reliable, reusable, testable code that expands our platform's core services and capabilities, while also enhancing their scalability and resilience.
Identify and troubleshoot performance, scalability, and code quality issues across application, ingestion, and data layers.
Take ownership of engineering initiatives and promote a culture of high ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
Actively engage with various stakeholders within Engineering, Product Management, Security Engineering, and External Partners as needed to define and deliver the required solution.
Operate with a Dev own quality mindset, participating in all stages of software development—requirements, design, coding, test automation, debugging, deployment, and production support.
Perform code reviews and ensure coding best practices.
You are expected to have strong experience in the following:
Deep hands-on experience with ClickHouse table design for analytical workloads: sorting key and sparse primary key design; partition strategy; data skipping indexes; materialized views for pre-aggregation; codec and compression selection per column type; and TTL policies for retention and data tiering.
Proven experience operating ClickHouse in production: distributed cluster design with ClickHouse Keeper; sharding and Distributed table architecture; high-throughput ingestion patterns; query profiling; diagnosing merge backpressure, part explosion, and mutation storms; memory and thread tuning via server/user profiles; storage tiering with storage policies; and monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana using ClickHouse-native metrics.
Familiarity with ClickHouse projections, query result caching, RBAC and row-level security, and experience managing version upgrades across breaking changes.
Strong understanding of analytical data modeling and trade-offs between transactional and analytical storage patterns.
Experience building or supporting high-throughput ingestion pipelines involving streaming systems, asynchronous processing, batch loading, or change-data-capture style workflows.
Experience with PostgreSQL, especially where it is used as a transactional state store alongside an analytical database.
High proficiency and experience in Unix/Linux platforms.
Strong working experience with C#, Go, and Docker.
Good understanding of and experience in software architecture and high-performance, scalable distributed systems.
Solid grasp of application architecture, networking, security, reliability, and scalability concepts.
Strong DevOps experience, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Collaboration skills for working with distributed teams (Omnissa has teams globally).
5-10 years of experience in software engineering.
Additionally, the following skills and qualifications will help you stand out:
Hands-on experience with Kafka, including event-driven or streaming architectures beyond basic pub/sub.
Experience designing systems for non-blocking ingestion, asynchronous processing, internal queueing, file-based loaders, or decoupled write pipelines.
Experience with large-scale JOIN-heavy analytical workloads and query patterns that require predictable low-latency responses.
Comprehensive knowledge and work experience with any or all of the following technologies: Redis, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and OpenSearch.
Strong foundation in Linux file systems, memory, and multi-threading.
Experience maintaining a large number of production deployments.
Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud solutions and managed cloud services.
Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as OS (Linux and Windows), Network, Database, Server, Storage, etc.
