Full Job Description
Marketplace teams sit at the core of Lyft's products and decision-making, owning everything from rider pricing to driver earnings, incentives, and matching efficiency. We're looking for passionate, driven engineers who want to build systems that give riders and drivers the best possible transportation experience through prediction, adaptivity, and personalization - and who thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment solving distributed computing, ML, and data challenges.

The Planned Pricing team sits within Lyft's Marketplace org and is responsible for forecasting, planning, and setting prices ahead of demand - ensuring pricing strategy is proactive rather than purely reactive. We partner closely with Product & Science to design and implement pricing strategies that anticipate market conditions, balancing the needs of riders, drivers, and business goals. As an owner of a flow that shapes forecasting and long-term pricing decisions across the company, you'll tackle a wide range of problems - from large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines to experimentation and forecasting accuracy. If you're excited about playing a key role in demand/supply planning and improving the Lyft experience for millions of riders and drivers, this could be a great fit.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate and maintain existing or new elements of our systems and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineers and partners in science & product to drive projects from inception, specification, execution, to launch
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable and maintainable code
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
  • Design and own the way pricing data is consumed, stored, and shared with the entirety of Lyft
  • Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practices
  • Utilize your expertise in Python, Golang, AWS to deliver robust and scalable solutions
Experience:
  • 1 - 3 years of software engineering industry experience
  • BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Extensive experience in object-oriented programming (ideally Python or Go)
  • Write clear, scalable and clear design documentation
  • Experience in backend software development of large-scale distributed systems and concurrency
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional partners
Benefits:
  • Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account
  • RRSP plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service
  • Lyft is proud to support new parents with 18 weeks of paid time off, designed as a top-up plan to complement provincial programs. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible.
  • Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits
