PayPal, Inc. seeks Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, develop, and maintain high-volume and scalable software for full-stack systems. Create web applications and back-end services to build and enhance user-facing experiences. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, product, and other business units to deliver integrated solutions. Work with product owners and service providers to build, test, and operate large-scale distributed systems. Develop, debug, and refactor software applications through iterative development cycles. Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance availability, reliability, and product quality. Design, implement, and execute automated unit tests and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and system reliability. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Java development, including experience with object-oriented programming, multithreading, and design patterns
2. TypeScript for both front-end and back-end development
3. Node.js for server-side development, including knowledge of Express.js or similar frameworks.
4. Front-End Development technologies like HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create responsive and user-friendly interfaces
5. Developing web applications using React.js, with a deep understanding of component-based architecture
6. REST principles, HTTP methods, and API security best practices
7. Database design, query optimization, and management of databases such as MySQL and Oracle
8. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automation using Jenkins, AWS deployment tools, or similar platforms
9. Building cloud-based applications on platforms such as AWS and GCP
10. Cloud services including serverless functions (e.g., Lambda), compute instances (e.g., EC2), and cloud-native infrastructure
11. Unit testing using frameworks like Jest & JUnit and integration testing using frameworks like Playwright & Cypress
12. Git for version control and collaboration
13. Algorithms and data structures

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $120,882.00-198,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
