Position SummaryThe Software Engineer will support the design, development, implementation, and documentation of systems engineering, integration, and readiness processes for PM EW&C systems. This role provides hands‑on support to engineering teams, program offices, and integrated product teams (IPTs) across Army EW and spectrum warfare programs. The engineer will help maintain evolving architectures, develop software solutions, and assess engineering processes for effectiveness and compliance.
This position is ideal for an engineer experienced in Electronic Warfare (EW), Command-and-Control (C2) systems, RF‑related software, or distributed simulation environments—drawing upon technical experience similar to work performed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River and Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the design, development, integration, and documentation of systems engineering and readiness processes for PEO IEWS programs.• Participate in and help coordinate Systems Engineering IPTs and technical forums at the PEO and subordinate organization levels.• Maintain and evolve system architecture artifacts, including data flow diagrams, interface descriptions, and engineering documentation.• Coordinate closely with program, project, and product offices to assess engineering and integration process performance, risks, and improvement areas.• Provide direct support for Army transformation efforts, including fielding of digitized information infrastructures across Active and Reserve Components.• Conduct analysis of user requirements and translate them into actionable engineering artifacts (requirements, workflows, interface definitions).• Prepare engineering plans, technical documentation, design packages, and test artifacts.• Support and participate in test events, demonstrations, data collection, and risk assessments.• Coordinate across multiple organizations to ensure technical alignment, integration readiness, and smooth software/system delivery.• Provide engineering input to decision-making activities, milestone reviews, and technical exchanges. • Develops software solutions in C++, Python, and modern frameworks supporting RF systems, EW capabilities, and C2 architectures.• Designs and maintains GUI‑based applications for control, monitoring, and integration of RF hardware, simulation tools, or EW-specific systems.• Experienced in developing and supporting Army Electronic Warfare tools such as EWC2 and EWPMT‑X, including planning, coordination, and operational integration.• Skilled in working with distributed simulation environments, hardware‑in‑the‑loop systems, and networked test assets.• Able to interpret and contribute to architecture diagrams, system requirements, interface control documents, and engineering workflows.• Demonstrated ability to support government test events, system demonstrations, and multi‑organization technical coordination.
Requirements
Requirements: MUST HAVE
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant software engineering or systems engineering experience.• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.• Experience with systems engineering principles, requirements development, and integration processes.• Ability to work within DoD engineering environments, including participation in IPTs and technical working groups.• Active Secret clearance.
Preferred:
- Experience with Electronic Warfare, Spectrum Operations, or RF‑related software systems.• Familiarity with Army programs such as TAK, AIDP, AFATDS, MEPED, JSDR, or EW/C2 architectures.• Experience with test events, demonstrations, or field support to operational units.• Experience working on Navy or Army development efforts such as NGTS, SIMDIS, or integrated test environments.• Knowledge of containerized applications, Kubernetes, or cloud‑based architectures.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.– Four (4) additional years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
Special Note
The position is contingent upon candidate’s ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; including compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictional requirements.
