Full Job Description
Position Overview

As a Software Engineer III, you'll be building and integrating web and mobile apps that real people use. You'll work with our core tech stack Java, JavaScript, and AWS; and help expand our CI/CD pipelines and automation efforts. You'll also use AI tools such as Claude Code to focus your effort where it matters most and raise the quality of what you ship.

You'll be part of an Agile SCRUM team, working closely with colleagues, mentoring junior developers, and leading key initiatives. You'll collaborate with teams across the company to deliver impactful solutions. Plus, you'll help architect, test, and deploy enterprise-level applications for clients across North America, all while having plenty of opportunities to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Use AI tools such as Claude Code wherever they add value across the full lifecycle, from design through development, testing, and release, to reduce repetitive effort and raise quality, while giving the tools context and validating their output every step of the way.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, testable code, and review and validate what AI produces rather than accepting it as-is.
  • Influence technical design and architecture decisions, and own the outcome of what you deliver.
  • Author and maintain technical designs, architecture documentation, and best practices that the rest of the team follows.
  • Conduct code reviews, including reviewing and validating AI-generated code, and incorporate feedback.
  • Contribute to testing, using AI to automate it where it adds value, to help deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development and production.
  • Raise engineering standards and quality across the wider team, and drive process and tooling improvements that make the team more efficient and effective.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and support their growth.
  • Work within a collaborative Agile SCRUM team, integrating AI-assisted work into the team's design, build, test, and release cycle.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating trade-offs, giving updates, and raising risks early.
  • Help the Client Success team by assisting with support-related issues.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on full-stack development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in Java, with deep understanding of object-oriented design and patterns
  • Experience with modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Angular or React
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, specifically AWS
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, and to review and validate code produced with AI tools
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative learning environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • A passion for continuous learning, professional development, and finding better ways of working
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop scalable solutions for complex problems
  • General AI literacy is a plus, including familiarity with AI terminology and core concepts such as large language models, prompting, providing context, and the limitations of AI output.
  • Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot is a plus but not required. Training will be provided.
