Copilot Tuning is a new product that enables organizations to fine-tune large language models (LLMs) using their own data, unlocking task-specific agents and AI-powered solutions. We are a small, fast-moving team advancing the state of the art of AI customization within Microsoft 365 Copilot. As a Software Engineer II, you will help design, build, and operate scalable services and platform capabilities that power Copilot Tuning end to end. You will contribute across the development lifecycle-from feature implementation and system reliability to monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities- Build and operate cloud-scale services that power Copilot Tuning and AI customization experiences in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Collaborate with engineers, applied scientists, and product managers to design and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Develop high-quality code, automated tests, and monitoring to ensure service reliability and operational excellence.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, contributing to live-site health and continuous service improvement.
- Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions while growing technical expertise.
- Partner across teams to deliver end-to-end features that help customers adapt Copilot to their unique data and workflows.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and modern development practices to improve productivity and software quality.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
