Job Summary

Cubic Digital Intelligence is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the Unified Video (UV) engineering team supporting the sustainment and modernization of our Full Motion Video (FMV) platform. This role will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the Unified Video ecosystem, including Feed Management Portal (FMP) and NetOps, while developing software solutions that improve reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Working alongside experienced engineers, the Software Engineer I will assist with feature development, automation, troubleshooting, and infrastructure modernization within a Linux-based software environment. This is a full-time hybrid position located in Ashburn, VA with limited travel as required.

Essential Functions
  • Develop, test, and maintain software supporting the Unified Video (UV) platform and associated applications, including Feed Management Portal (FMP) and NetOps.
  • Assist in developing backend services and automation using Node.js, Python, and PostgreSQL.
  • Support software deployment, configuration management, and CI/CD automation efforts.
  • Troubleshoot software defects, investigate issues, and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to security updates, vulnerability remediation, and software maintenance activities.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and Agile development activities.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement new features and modernize existing applications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and engineering best practices while contributing to team objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming through coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional experience.
  • Experience with one or more modern programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with Git version control and software development fundamentals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, research, or personal project experience developing software applications.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Exposure to Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs, SQL databases, and software testing principles.
  • Familiarity with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to improve productivity and learning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile team environment.


Cubic Pay Range:
$40.00 - $44.00 + benefits.
