Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an Software Engineer I to support our cutting-edge Drone Armor counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) program. This role focuses on troubleshooting and resolving software and setup issues for field engineers, technicians, and customers, ensuring mission-critical systems remain operational and effective in demanding environments.

What You'll Be Doing

Software Troubleshooting & Field Support

  • Troubleshoot and develop technical solutions related to software and setup errors for field engineers, technicians, and customers
  • Diagnose issues in deployed or test environments and implement corrective actions to restore functionality
  • Support configuration, installation, and setup of Drone Armor software components as needed

Workarounds, Resolution & Escalation

  • Create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed to ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion
  • Track, document, and communicate issue status and resolution to stakeholders
  • Escalate urgent or complex problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources (e.g., senior engineers, developers, or systems engineers)

Operational Support & General Engineering Tasks

  • Apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the software engineering and C-UAS support domain
  • Perform a variety of technical tasks under general supervision, contributing to operational readiness and system reliability
  • Use a degree of creativity and latitude to solve problems and improve processes, workflows, and support procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to feed field findings back into development and testing for continuous improvement

What Required Skills You'll Bring

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 2 years of experience
    OR
  • 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

Experience

  • Experience troubleshooting software and setup errors in operational, field, or test environments
  • Experience supporting engineers, technicians, or customers with technical issue resolution
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in software engineering or technical support
  • Experience performing a variety of tasks under general supervision, with demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals using judgment and creativity

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to analyze logs, error conditions, and configurations to identify root causes of software issues
  • Familiarity with one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) for troubleshooting and automation
  • Experience with ticketing/issue tracking systems and documentation of steps taken to resolve issues
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical issues and solutions to non-specialist users and stakeholders

Security & Citizenship

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • SECRET security clearance

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

Advanced Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • Relevant certifications in support engineering, IT service management (e.g., ITIL), or related areas

Specialized Experience

  • Experience supporting DoD, defense, or C-UAS-related software systems in field or test environments
  • Experience working with mission-critical or real-time systems where timely resolution of issues is essential

Additional Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with remote support tools, logging/monitoring tools, and configuration management practices
  • Exposure to Agile or DevSecOps environments and feedback cycles from field to development

Security Clearance Requirement:

An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.​

This position is part of our Federal Solutions team.

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
