Full Job Description
The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of applications that enable Assurant's financial and accounting operations. This role partners with business and technology teams to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable solutions supporting financial reporting, transactions, and regulatory requirements.

The position operates within a controlled environment subject to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance, requiring adherence to established IT General Controls (ITGCs), secure development practices, and audit readiness standards.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and implement software solutions supporting financial and accounting systems
  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions aligned with Assurant architecture standards
  • Develop high-quality, maintainable code following secure coding and enterprise development standards
  • Support financial processes such as general ledger, reconciliations, reporting, and integrations
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Audit, and Risk
  • Perform application support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production issues
  • Contribute to system enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives
  • Maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and support procedures
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement efforts


SOX & Security Responsibilities
  • Ensure all development and support activities comply with SOX IT General Controls (ITGCs) including:
    • Change management (documented approvals, testing, and deployment controls)
    • Access controls (least privilege, role-based access)
    • Segregation of duties (SoD) adherence
  • Support internal and external audits by providing complete, accurate, and timely evidence (e.g., change records, approvals, testing documentation)
  • Follow secure development practices aligned with Assurant security policies
  • Identify, remediate, and document control gaps or vulnerabilities in applications
  • Ensure proper logging, monitoring, and audit traceability within financial systems
  • Partner with Security and Compliance teams to maintain application integrity and data protection standards
  • Participate in periodic access reviews and certification processes for financial applications


What are the requirements needed for this position?
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of software development experience (adjust based on level)
  • Proficiency and experience with .NET development
  • Experience working with enterprise applications and system integrations
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with version control tools and repositories - Microsoft ADO; Octopus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


Pay Range:
$82,200.00 - $137,200.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
