Full Job Description
Role

Enterprise Engineering supports the needs of our largest and most complex sellers. As sellers grow their businesses on Whatnot, their needs evolve-and this team builds the systems and tooling to support them at scale.

Enterprise is looking for their next software engineer who will operate at the intersection of engineering and customer success-working directly with enterprise sellers and their technical teams to design, implement, and support custom integrations on top of Whatnot's APIs and infrastructure. Unlike a traditional software engineering role, you'll have a direct line to the customers using what you build. You'll spend your time writing code, building internal tooling, automating repetitive support workflows, developing integrations, and identifying product gaps that can be solved once instead of manually worked around hundreds of times.

This role is ideal for a software engineer who wants to transition into a more customer-facing role, partnering directly with enterprise sellers and their engineering teams to help them successfully adopt live commerce. You'll build integrations, tooling, and scalable technical solutions that make onboarding and operating on Whatnot seamless, while helping shape how we support the next generation of enterprise sellers as our platform continues to grow.

The role entails:
  • Partnering directly with enterprise sellers and their engineering teams to architect and implement bespoke integrations leveraging Whatnot's APIs and platform capabilities.
  • Acting as the technical bridge between customers and internal teams-translating seller needs into scalable solutions while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and account management stakeholders.
  • Building durable tooling, workflows, and support infrastructure that help scale enterprise onboarding, integration support, and long-term customer success, including hands-on coding focused on developing scalable integration solutions and internal operational tooling.
  • Solving complex post-sale technical challenges while helping define how Whatnot supports enterprise commerce moving forward.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York or Seattle hub.

You

People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.

As our next engineer on Enterprise, you should have 3+ years of software engineering experience, plus:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work with customers directly, both satiating customer expectations as well and ensuring internal company strategic standards and goals are met.
  • Comfort talking to customers directly. You can run a technical conversation with an external engineering team, ask the questions that surface the real requirement, and say no when the right answer is a platform fix rather than a one-off.
  • Ability to flexibly work across multiple workstreams, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand complex customer success workflows and envision and build tooling to better support our bespoke system.
  • Strong grounding in APIs, distributed systems, and data synchronization - you've debugged something gnarly across a system boundary you didn't control.
  • A track record of automating away work rather than absorbing it. You get uncomfortable doing the same manual fix twice.
  • Ability to take ownership of an ambiguous area, define it, and drive impact - this role has no playbook yet.
  • Experience with e-commerce or operational systems (Shopify, ChannelAdvisor, Magento, NetSuite, ShipStation, WMS/ERP platforms) is a plus.

Benefits
  • Flexible Time off Policy and Company-wide Holidays (including a spring and winter break)
  • Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Work From Home Support
    • Home office setup allowance
    • Monthly allowance for cell phone and internet
  • Care benefits
    • Monthly allowance for wellness
    • Annual allowance towards Childcare
    • Lifetime benefit for family planning, such as adoption or fertility expenses
  • Retirement; 401k offering for Traditional and Roth accounts in the US (employer match up to 4% of base salary) and Pension plans internationally
  • Monthly allowance to dogfood the app
    • All Whatnauts are expected to develop a deep understanding of our product. We're passionate about building the best user experience, and all employees are expected to use Whatnot as both a buyer and a seller as part of their job (our dogfooding budget makes this fun and easy!).
  • Parental Leave
    • 16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work *company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence.
