Software Engineer - Controls & Test AutomationOverview / Summary We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a Software Updates Test Automation & Tools Development team. The successful candidate will develop software solutions that enable automated testing of automotive infotainment, connectivity, and related vehicle technologies.
This role focuses on building, maintaining, and improving automation tools, frameworks, test scripts, Python libraries, and test infrastructure to improve test efficiency, coverage, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and maintain software tools and automation features that support automated testing while following established engineering best practices.
- Develop and maintain test libraries that interface with vehicle electronic control units (ECUs), test management systems, and defect tracking systems.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to convert manual test cases into automated tests.
- Develop and maintain automation configurations and execution pipelines for test collateral and tools.
- Collaborate with development teams and manual test teams to understand testing requirements and implement the necessary tools and test scripts.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, identify regressions, and maintain alignment with team standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing solutions and propose innovative approaches to unresolved testing problems.
- Contribute to team deliverables through participation in Agile Scrum development sprints.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in object-oriented analysis and design, multithreading, algorithms, and data structures.
- 2+ years of experience in Python development; coursework and/or research may be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to root-cause problems creatively and effectively.
- Experience developing Python-based automation test scripts, libraries, tools, and test infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with automated testing frameworks and environments, such as PyTest, unit testing, or Slash.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, such as Jenkins.
- Experience with Windows and Linux command-line scripting and batch/shell scripting.
- Experience with Groovy, Java, or C++.
- Experience with test case management systems, such as TestRail.
- Experience with defect tracking systems, such as Jira.
- Experience with source code management tools, such as GitHub.
- Experience with embedded operating systems, such as QNX or Linux.
- Ability to work in a multi-site team environment and contribute in a self-driven, self-motivated manner.
- Experience with web application development, such as Django.
- Experience with automated GUI testing tools, such as Squish.
- Experience with database querying and administration, such as SQL.
- Experience with Jenkins for automated test scheduling, orchestration, and tool execution environments.
Work Arrangement - Hybrid work arrangement.
- Four days per week in the office.
