We are seeking a Product Engineer with experience in automotive body closure systems to support the development and release of technical requirements and engineering strategies. The role will focus on rear closure systems, including liftgates, tailgates, cargo doors, swing gates, hinges, latches, mechanisms, sheet metal structures, and system integration.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing closure systems from early development through product launch, along with experience writing technical specifications and engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and release technical requirements and engineering strategies for rear closure systems.
  • Support all aspects of rear closures, including liftgates, tailgates, cargo doors, swing gates, hinges, latches, mechanisms, and system integration.
  • Develop technical documentation, including DVP&R, DFMEA, technical requirements, and technical strategies.
  • Draft and publish technical specifications and requirements using atomic statements aligned with customer use cases and test conditions.
  • Develop DVP-related documentation and DFMEA documentation from scratch.
  • Develop products from early development through product launch.
  • Use 3D modeling tools to open, view, measure, and cut basic sections in Vis and CATIA V5.
  • Perform basic 3D modeling within CATIA.
  • Collect competitive benchmarking information, including mass, size, and features, to compare against existing designs.
  • Collect information required to develop technical requirements.
  • Support Voice of the Customer (VOC) data collection and develop requirements using a physics-based approach.
  • Apply principles of statics and dynamics to mechanical engineering activities.
  • Develop and/or complete Free Body Diagrams (FBDs) for moving systems.
  • Work with mechanisms and structures.
  • Support closure systems involving sheet metal body structures, stamping, sealing, power/gas struts, power drive units/motors, and hinges.
  • Support the resolution of current-model quality issues and implementation of corrective actions.
