Full Job Description
As a Software Development Manager you will drive and contribute to the strategy, goals, and requirements for our host operating systems and third party software vulnerability management business. You will work closely with a variety of different groups including Engineering, TPMs, and cross-functional teams to ensure that teams across the organization are equipped with the tools and data resources they need to discover insights and make an impact on the products and experiences we deliver. You will leverage automation and AI will deliver industry leading capabilities that descriptive and predictive analytics, and security engineering to automate complex security work and produce insights to our builders and our customers.
You will need a deeply analytical and systems architecture mindset with the ability to tackle complex challenges and effectively influence stakeholders across AWS Security org. This is a high-impact and high visibility role that requires not only strategic vision and inventing for the customers, but also strong execution, technical depth, analytical rigor, and excellent communication.
Key job responsibilities
Build a best-in-class engineering team that delivers excellent results through rapid iterations
Design and develop state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems
Cultivate engineering and operational excellence through metrics and continuous learning
Develop long term strategy for your programs and translate it into roadmap and action plan
Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management
Mentor and grow high performing SDEs and security engineers to take on increasingly higher responsibilities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- 2+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or using other cloud based technologies and services experience
- 2+ years of Managing IT security engineering teams in security detections and response, vulnerability management, application security, or related discipline.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
