The B2B Cruise engineering team builds, modernizes, and operates the technology that powers Cruise Operations across Expedia Group, enabling Cruise experiences on the Brand Expedia consumer and ExpediaCruises Franchise platforms. Our team connects cruise-specific capabilities with the broader Expedia Group ecosystem so that partners, consultants, and travellers can rely on a seamless, accurate, and trustworthy booking experience.
What you'll do:- Required to work in our team's local office at least 3 days a week
- Build, test, and deploy well-defined features and improvements within Cruise services and applications.
- Translate product requirements and technical designs into clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Contribute across the technology stack, including Java/Spring services, web applications, APIs, databases, and cloud-based systems.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, incorporating feedback and following team engineering standards.
- Add and maintain appropriate tests, logging, metrics, and documentation for the code you deliver.
- Help investigate production issues, support operational fixes, and escalate risks or blockers with guidance from teammates.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, analysts, and partner teams to deliver reliable Cruise capabilities.
- Learn the Cruise platform and broader Expedia Group ecosystem, including the dependencies and integrations that support Cruise Operations.
- Look for opportunities to simplify existing code, improve developer experience, and share knowledge with the team.
Qualifications and experience:- Experience developing software through professional work, internships, academic projects, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, with experience or interest in Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Understanding of core software engineering practices, including object-oriented programming, data structures, testing, debugging, and version control.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, break work into manageable steps, and ask for help when needed.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a commitment to building inclusive and respectful working relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
Preferred qualifications:- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, or service-oriented application development.
- Exposure to React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services.
- Familiarity with Linux-based development or production environments.
- Exposure to monitoring, logging, CI/CD, or on-call support.
- Interest in learning how distributed systems, integrations, and cloud services work together.

The total cash range for this position in Vancouver is $65,500.00 to $92,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $105,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
