Key job responsibilities
• Architect & Lead Large-Scale Technical Solutions Own the end-to-end design of complex, distributed systems - from broadly defined business problems to production-ready architectures that scale to millions of customers.
• Drive Engineering Excellence & Best Practices Raise the bar across the team by championing operational excellence, code quality, security, and reliability - establishing patterns and standards that endure as the system grows.
• Mentor & Grow Engineering Talent Serve as a technical leader and force-multiplier - coaching engineers, leading design reviews, and cultivating a culture of ownership and continuous learning across the organization.
• Shape Technical Strategy with Business Impact Bridge technology and business by deeply understanding customer needs, influencing the team's long-term roadmap, and ensuring engineering investments align with strategic objectives.
About the team
The Charge Calculation team is a crucial part of Amazon's eCommerce foundation. We own systems integral to the full lifecycle of consumer purchasing on Amazon. Our team orchestrates charge calculations and provides comprehensive charge summaries to clients. We also own the model that defines charge representation in the workflow, impacting numerous up and downstream services in the purchase journey.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
