Full Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a motivated Software Developer to support the development, integration, testing, and analysis of missile defense models and simulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong software-development experience and proficiency in Java, C++, Git, and Docker container technologies. This individual will work closely with engineers and technical personnel to develop and maintain modeling and simulation infrastructure; integrate missile defense component models into larger simulation environments; and support the verification, validation, analysis, and delivery of reliable simulation products. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Some of the primary responsibilities will include:
  • Modeling & Simulation Software Development: Design, develop, modify, and maintain software applications, component models, and simulation services supporting missile defense modeling and simulation activities.
  • M&S Infrastructure Development: Develop, configure, and maintain modeling and simulation infrastructure, development environments, interfaces, tools, and supporting services required to execute missile defense simulations.
  • Component Model Integration: Integrate missile defense component models into larger simulation environments; develop and maintain software interfaces; and resolve interoperability, data-exchange, and execution issues.
  • Software Testing & Analysis: Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and system-level tests to verify software functionality, model behavior, interface compatibility, and simulation performance.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate, diagnose, document, and resolve complex software, model, interface, build, deployment, and runtime issues.
  • Containerization & Deployment: Use Docker containers to package, configure, deploy, and maintain software applications and modeling and simulation environments.
  • Configuration Management: Use Git and established configuration-management processes to manage source code, maintain version history, support collaborative development, and control software releases.
  • Engineering Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, analysts, and other technical personnel to define software requirements, implement technical solutions, analyze simulation results, and deliver customer-required products.

Job Requirements:
  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2 plus years applicable software design engineering experience.
  • Experience developing software using Java and C++.
  • Experience developing, integrating, testing, and analyzing software applications, component models, or simulations.
  • Proficiency using Git for source-code version control, collaborative development, branch management, and software configuration management.
  • Experience using Docker containers to package, deploy, configure, or maintain software applications and development or simulation environments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain software interfaces and integrate component-level software into larger systems or simulation environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve software-development, integration, test, deployment, and performance issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment and collaborate with engineers, analysts, and technical support personnel.
  • Must have an active security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Proficiency developing or maintaining software using Ada and Fortran.
  • Experience supporting missile defense modeling and simulation software-development activities.
  • Previous software-development experience supporting missile defense command-and-control systems.
  • Experience with the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), Patriot, or related air and missile defense systems.
  • Experience working in classified, secure, or government customer environments.
  • Experience with automated testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, or other modern software-development practices.
