Software Developer (Enterprise Systems)Role:
This Software Developer role expands upon the college's existing development capabilities to support enterprise system modernization, institutional growth, and long-term cost optimization. This position is a key contributor in designing, developing, and maintaining internally owned applications and integrations that reduce reliance on external SaaS platforms while increasing agility and control over critical systems.

Strategic Purpose of the Role
  • Expand Grayson College's internal software development footprint

  • Support SIS modernization and enterprise platform expansion

The salary range for this position is $71,757.31 to $107,635.97 annually.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

25%- Enterprise Software Development & Architecture
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications and backend services
  • Build internal tools and platforms to reduce dependency on third-party software
  • Develop reusable frameworks, APIs, and shared services

20%- Backend Systems Development & Architecture
  • Design and maintain robust backend services and RESTful APIs
  • Implement secure, high-performance server-side application logic
  • Optimize database schemas, queries, and system performance
  • Enforce secure coding practices and enterprise standards

10%- Institutional Cost Optimization & Innovation
  • Identify and develop internal solutions to replace costly SaaS platforms
  • Partner with leadership on build vs. buy decisions
  • Contribute to long-term Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction strategies

10%- DevOps, Testing & Application Lifecycle
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management
  • Develop automated tests and ensure code quality and coverage
  • Troubleshoot defects and optimize system performance

10%- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work with project managers, analysts, and departments to translate requirements into solutions
  • Participate in discovery sessions and solution design
  • Support customer-facing troubleshooting and technical discussions

5%- Reporting & Data Enablement
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions (SSRS, dashboards, analytics tools)

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: A Bachelor's degree.
