This position is open to applicants across all of the UK, Canada and North Macedonia on a remote basis, with the physical office located in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

What You'll Do

As a Platform Engineer on the DevEx Deploy & Run team, you'll build and evolve the platform that powers engineering across Slice. You'll work closely with product engineering teams to improve developer experience while raising the bar for reliability, security, and operational excellence.

You will:

• Build and maintain our Internal Developer Platform, making it easier for engineers to deploy, operate, and troubleshoot their services.
• Create self-service tooling and automation that eliminate repetitive work and reduce operational overhead.
• Design and implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD to provide safe, repeatable, and scalable application delivery.
• Improve our Kubernetes platform by developing reusable patterns, templates, and guardrails that make the right thing the easy thing.
• Build internal applications and developer tooling in Python that simplify infrastructure management and operational workflows.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, improving deployment speed, consistency, and developer productivity.
• Use generative AI to help build and maintain internal services, including agentic services
• Improve observability by leveraging Datadog dashboards, metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting to help teams operate confidently in production.
• Partner with product engineering teams to understand pain points and continuously improve the developer experience.
• Reduce cognitive load for engineers by standardizing workflows, automating infrastructure operations, and providing well-documented platform capabilities.
• Champion engineering best practices around reliability, security, automation, and platform adoption.

Platform mindset

You think in terms of reusable systems instead of one-off fixes. You enjoy creating platforms, guardrails, and automation that improve the experience of dozens or hundreds of engineers.

Strong automation skills

You're comfortable writing production-quality software-particularly in Python-to automate infrastructure, build internal tooling, and eliminate manual processes.

Kubernetes experience

You have experience operating or building on Kubernetes and understand modern cloud-native deployment patterns.

GitOps & CI/CD

You understand GitOps principles and have experience with tools like ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar deployment and automation platforms.

Operational excellence

You care deeply about reliability, observability, and operational simplicity. Monitoring, logging, metrics, and incident response are part of how you build software-not an afterthought.

Strong communication skills

You are clear and concise in both written and oral communication whether it be providing status updates or defining requirements in RFC/PRD documents or ticketing system.

Collaborative enabler

You enjoy partnering with engineering teams, understanding their pain points, and building solutions that improve their day-to-day experience.

Ownership mindset

You take ownership of problems from discovery through implementation. You look beyond immediate fixes and seek scalable, long-term improvements.

Nice to have: Experience in product engineering. Having shipped customer-facing features yourself gives you firsthand empathy for the friction platform tooling can remove, and helps you design capabilities engineers actually want to adopt.
