Job Description:

Join GDIT to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the NEDIIS program. As the SoftwareDefined Network Modernization Manager, you will lead teams modernizing SDWAN, enterprise networking, cloud connectivity, and TIC capabilities across the VA enterprise. This role supports VA OIT in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable network services that power the VA mission nationwide.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead engineering teams implementing SDWAN, LAN/WAN, cloud networking, and enterprise modernization initiatives.

  • Oversee architecture reviews, configuration standards, and network refresh efforts.

  • Support daily TIC operations, performance monitoring, and effective resolution of escalated issues.

  • Guide technical staff managing tickets and operational support needs.

  • Support IPS hardware operations and troubleshooting.

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex network and softwaredefined infrastructure issues.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions align with VA and cybersecurity standards.

  • Evaluate new technologies, run pilots, and recommend modernization strategies.

  • Mentor engineers and strengthen processes and operational practices.

  • Contribute to technical specifications, test plans, schedules, and modernization roadmaps.

  • Assist with budgeting, technology selection, risk management, and program reporting.

What Youll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience leading network engineering, telecom operations, or modernization efforts.

  • Strong background in LAN/WAN, SDWAN, routing, VoIP/SIP, firewalls, VPNs, or cloud networking.

  • Experience supporting multivendor environments or enterprisescale infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with monitoring or observability tools.

  • Understanding of federal cybersecurity principles (NIST, Zero Trust, TIC, STIGs).

  • Ability to support escalations in a 24environment as needed.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desired (Not Required)

  • CCNA, CCNP, CCIE

  • Enterprise SDWAN certification

  • Network+

Security & Location

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

  • Hybrid role based in Martinsburg, WV or Austin, TX with regular onsite attendance on a weekly basis.

  • Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

The likely salary range for this position is $114,750 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
