Description

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled Engineering professional to support the Director for Software Assurance within the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)). The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and advancement of software assurance tools, methods, standards, and best practices to enhance the resiliency of the United States' most advanced military systems. Position is on-site at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support software engineering, systems security engineering, and software assurance policy and guidance activities to protect advanced military technologies.
  • Develop and advance approaches for the adoption and application of secure software supply chain development practices.
  • Contribute to the creation of software assurance roadmaps and provide recommendations on research and development needs for both enterprise and embedded software.
  • Lead and advance practices for independent validation and verification (IV&V) of software products, including assessments of software development processes and products.
  • Make recommendations to advance Department of War (DoW) software assurance strategies, policies, guidance, best practices, standards, and education/training initiatives.
  • Assess and provide recommendations for mitigating software vulnerabilities in military systems.
  • Analyze and advise the Director of Software Assurance on the implementation of Secure Software Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Support the Director of Software Assurance in their role as Co-Chair of the Software Assurance Community of Practice, collaborating with representatives from the National Nuclear Security Administration, National Security Agency, and Department of Homeland Security to develop and promote software assurance best practices and standards.
  • Foster partnerships with the Office of the Secretary of War, Military Departments and Agencies, Federal Agencies, industry, and academia to advance and implement software assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
Required Qualifications:
  • TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship.
  • Experience communicating with senior management and reporting progress against schedule.
  • Experience in delivering complex solutions in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually, and to transform ideas into practical implementation.
  • Experience as a DoW Action Officer in developing and staffing work packages through tasker information systems.
  • Knowledge of the DoW organizational structure, OSW inter-office coordination, communication protocols, or policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-agency or multi-stakeholder environments.
