Job DescriptionDesign the software architecture powering next-generation sensor fusion systems for the F-35. As a Senior Software Engineer / Emerging Software Architect on the Sensor Fusion team, you will lead the design, development, modeling, analysis, and testing of advanced fusion software and architecture that supports mission-critical aerospace capabilities.
In this role, you will collaborate across software, systems, and mission engineering teams to integrate scalable, real-time fusion solutions into advanced applications. You will help shape architectural direction across large, complex codebases while ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability in embedded and real-time environments.
What You Will Be Doing:- Design and develop sensor fusion software architectures supporting next-generation F-35 mission systems.
- Apply object-oriented design, design patterns, clean architecture principles, and test-driven development (TDD) using C++ and C#.
- Develop and optimize real-time embedded software systems managing concurrency, threading, scheduling, semaphores, and queue-based processing in Windows and Linux environments.
- Model, analyze, and validate fusion algorithms and software behavior through simulation, testing, and performance analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fusion solutions into operational mission systems and ensure architectural alignment across components.
- Contribute to Agile development cycles as a technical leader or product-facing engineer supporting execution, prioritization, and delivery.
- Participate in architectural decisions across large-scale, service-based, and component-based software systems including microservices where applicable.
- Support integration with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards and frameworks such as UCI, FACE, VICTORY, and related architectures.
Basic Qualifications- Experience in a customer-facing, Product Owner or Scrum Master role operating on an AGILE delivery cadence
- Experience with C++, C#, OOP, OOD, Design Patterns, Clean Architecture, and Test Driven Development
- Prior Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and embedded systems development experience including managing concurrencies, threads, scheduling, semaphores, and queues/buffers - (Windows & Linux)
Desired skills- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Demonstrated architectural experience working in large codebases, service-based architectures, microservices, and/or component-based architectures
- Experience with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) such as UCI, FACE, VICTORY, AMS GRA, etc
- Experience with RHEL8, VCPKG or Conan, CMake, GITLAB
