The UW Medical Center-Montlake Social Work Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Work Assistant.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-Time / 40 hours per week

  • Day Shifts

  • This position isin-person, Monday through Friday

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Social Work Assistant serves as a member of the University of Washington Social Work and Care Coordination department, primarily assisting the Perinatal Social Work Team with the coordination of needed resources for patients.

  • Responsibilities include working closely with Social Workers, patients and their families, and the medical team in helping them follow-through on community resource referrals, tangible needs, and application processes for necessary services.

  • Ideal candidates have experience working in a medical setting, demonstrate strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, and work well with a variety of persons and teams.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scheduling coverage.

  • Arrange home health and Negative Wound Pressure Therapy, based on referral from Social Worker.

  • Arrange and coordinate the transfer of patients, including arranging transportation.

  • Assist the Social Worker and the patient/family with local housing and transportation, including insurance authorization such as Alaska’s or other Medicaid systems.

  • Assist the patient/family with emergency needs for resources, such as emergency funds, food vouchers, and transportation subsidies.

  • Provide general clerical assistance with faxing, copying, and coordinating paperwork to facilitate discharge.

  • Research and update community resource information as needed.

  • Assist patient/family with financial applications, in coordination with UWMC financial counseling, DSHS, or SSA(SSI).

  • Assist the social work team in screening for social work involvement such as the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS).

  • Maintain communication with UWMC health care team on patient status/needs via the medical record and daily consultation.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Social Work or a Bachelor's Degree in the behavioral sciences AND two years experience as a Social Work Assistant I or equivalent.

OR

an Associate of Arts Degree in the behavioral sciences AND four years of work experience as a Social Work Assistant I or equivalent.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. 

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$35.53 hourly

Pay Range Maximum:

$52.38 hourly
