The RolePrivacy is one of the defining fights of this decade, and most of the public conversation about it is still boring, jargon-heavy, or fear-based. We want to change that.
We're hiring a Social Media Associate to own and grow Cape's voice across social media channels. This person will be the driving force behind multiplying our following, sharpening our brand voice into something people actually want to engage with, and helping establish Cape as a credible, quotable voice in the broader public conversation about privacy, not just another company posting product updates.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who is a sharp, distinctive writer first, and who wants to grow social channels rather than just maintain existing ones. You'll have real input into how Cape shows up in the world, not just execute a content calendar someone else designed.
What You'll Work OnContent & voice: Own social copywriting, editing, and posting end-to-end. Develop and evolve Cape's brand voice across channels. Copy edit and upload blog posts. Write and edit email marketing copy; format and help build out email flows/sequences Proofread across all of the above - nothing goes out with typos or off-brand language.
Thought leadership & positioning: Help identify and shape opportunities for Cape to weigh in on public privacy conversations. Translate technical/product features into compelling narratives for social and video
Light operations: Order business cards, conference materials, etc. Reply to inbound email inquiries, which requires getting familiar enough with the product to represent it accurately
What We Value- Cape's social following and engagement grow meaningfully, with a voice that's recognizable and differentiated from typical security/privacy brand accounts
- Our content gets cited, shared, or referenced in broader privacy conversations. Reporters, researchers, and other players in the space start to see Cape as a credible source, not just a product
- Email flows run smoothly with minimal oversight, and copy quality is consistently high
- You've built systems (calendars, trackers, briefs) that make the function scale beyond just you
Experience- Excellent, distinctive writing
- Strong organizational skills: comfortable building and maintaining spreadsheet trackers to manage projects and content calendars
- High attention to detail
- Creative instincts, not just execution: someone who pitches ideas, not just fills a calendar
- (Bonus Points) Video filming and editing experience (Plus) a portfolio of past work
