Purpose of JobThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, high-value capital and major maintenance projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with business strategy, operational needs, regulatory requirements, and long-term asset integrity. This role provides strategic direction, drives project governance, and influences senior stakeholders to ensure safe, competitive, and efficient project delivery across the site.
Key Accountabilities- Lead complex capital and major maintenance projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring strategic alignment and safe, competitive delivery.
- Define project scope, objectives, execution strategies, and governance requirements across all project phases.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, risks, and KPIs with strong cost and schedule discipline.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, process safety, and regulatory requirements, and actively champion safety in all planning and execution activities.
- Oversee engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and HSE to ensure readiness, operability, and smooth handover.
- Develop contracting strategies and manage contractor performance, productivity, and claims.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities, escalating issues proactively to maintain project performance.
- Provide transparent and routine reporting on progress, cost trends, schedule status, risks, and decision needs.
- Ensure proper project closure, including documentation turnover, MOC compliance, and capture of lessons learned.
- Mentor and develop project engineering and management staff.
- Drive continuous improvement of project processes, standards, and governance, and contribute to broader portfolio planning.
Formal Education- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).
- Advanced degree (e.g., MS in Engineering or MBA) a plus.
Working Experience- Minimum 15 years of engineering and project management experience in operating facilities, including leadership of complex, multi-disciplinary capital projects (>$5MM) or portfolios of projects.
- Demonstrated delivery of projects within live operating units, including constrained brownfield environments, tie-ins, outages, and TAR integration.
