The opportunity

As a Smart Mobility Consultant, you will help shape the future of transportation by supporting the planning and delivery of innovative smart mobility and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects across Canada. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and public sector clients, you will contribute to solutions that enhance how communities move, connect, and thrive. The Smart Mobility Consultant will be responsible for supporting the pursuit and delivery of Smart Mobility and ITS projects in Canada. The main focus will be during the planning and feasibility stages of the project lifecycle.

Your impact

The role includes the following supporting the delivery of the following types of work:

  • Needs and opportunity assessments
  • Feasibility studies
  • Technology discussion papers and strategic plans
  • Long-range planning studies
  • Concept of operations
  • Performance based specifications
  • Pilot planning and delivery
  • Market / jurisdictional scans
  • Literature reviews
  • Existing systems reviews
  • Program delivery on multi-disciplinary assignments


The role includes work across a number of different subject matter areas within the Smart Mobility / ITS industry. These include but are not limited to: connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), managed lanes, parking management, tolling, traveller information systems, traffic signal systems, transit management systems, advanced traffic management systems, integrated corridor management and border systems.

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Applies critical thinking, creativity and understanding of strengths and limitations of technology to problem solving
  • Supports the delivery of tasks outlined in the description above
  • Prepares work plans, schedules and budgets with support from team
  • Supports Business Development efforts by identifying, capturing and responding to opportunities
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships and communication with clients, department managers, project managers, internal and external leads
  • Works with team and clients to facilitate stakeholder meetings to understand the needs and big picture view
  • Ensures quality control and quality assurance
  • Supports and participates with WSP Smart and Future Ready Initiatives

  • Bachelor's degree; Engineering preferred
  • 0-3 years relevant experience
  • Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills
  • Committed team player with strong organizational skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Interest or experience with Smart Mobility / Intelligent Transportation Systems;
  • Interest or experience working with Provincial, Regional, Municipal and City authorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (primarily Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment to meet strict deadlines


Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 - $102,500
MB & ON: $70,600 - $97,200
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $69,900 - $92,900
