Full Job Description
Skin Health Packaging Manager R&D Role reports to: Associate Director SH&B Packaging R&D Location: North America, United States, New Jersey, Summit Work Location: Hybrid What you will do Develops and directs the short and long range program and strategies related to Brand packaging, including but not limited to innovative package development, corporate packaging initiatives, and corporate/government initiatives. Provides leadership in monitoring packaging communication systems. Reports on the status of all regulatory and customer requirements. Assures execution of packaging projects are in compliance with government and corporate guidelines and laws. Facilitates technical writing of packaging procedures and documents as needed. Develops systems to monitor expenses versus budgets. Plans and directs the administration and implementation of projects related to product package development as required for the development, manufacture, marketing, and sales of company products. Manages workloads and project assignments for the packaging team. Scope • Shapes & leads squad/ franchise deliverables for superior consumer experience through packaging and engages the cross-functional team to follow through.  • Leads a team of 3-5 packaging engineers of various levels. Develops goals and success criteria. • Provides direction, management, and technical expertise in technology screening, product/process development, and implementation of a range of projects covering new package development, materials selection, manufacturing process/site changes, and continuous improvement opportunities. • Supports manufacturing investigations and collaborates with commercial & supply chain teams to optimize processes, packaging materials, and constructions to enable the business GP targets and ESG targets. • Recruits, trains, and develops staff and conducts performance management to ensure team effectiveness. Key Responsibilities • Partner with the X-functional team to lead new package development based on consumer insight, delivering the targeted consumer benefit and key claims, while meeting cost targets. • Leverage digital tools such as CAD, modeling & simulation to streamline package development and guide the team to deliver right-first-time initiatives.  • Identify, pilot & deploy process optimization opportunities for packaging development. Collaborates with operations, marketing, quality assurance, and research and development to identify opportunities and drive projects forward. • Manages the identification of new materials and structures, and plans studies with the appropriate cross-functional team to validate consumer experience impacts of the novel changes. • Manages development process robustness for new products from research and development to manufacturing and their translation into specifications.  • Maintains accountability for best practices throughout product and process design. Implements methods for measuring performance to monitor the technical integrity of products.  Requirements:   • BS / MS in Packaging technology, Mechanical / Polymer, Plastics, or Chemical Engineering.
