Responsibilities

Peraton requires Data Security Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3 EOM.  This position is located at MacDill AFB in Florida.  

 

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365. 

 

The Data Security Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert focused on the Data pillar of the enterprise Zero Trust architecture. This role is responsible for engineering, deploying, and maintaining comprehensive data protection solutions across Department of War (DoW) networks. The engineer will design and implement data catalogs, automated data labeling, and robust governance frameworks. By leveraging enterprise tools the engineer will develop advanced continuous monitoring and sensing capabilities to track data lineage, enforce access policies, prevent unauthorized exfiltration, and ensure compliance with stringent DoD data security mandates.

  • Design, implement, and administer enterprise data cataloging and data governance platforms to ensure all structured and unstructured data is discovered, classified, and managed securely.
  • Engineer and deploy automated data labeling and tagging solutions, ensuring critical information (such as Controlled Unclassified Information [CUI] and mission data) is accurately marked for downstream policy enforcement.
  • Integrate, configure, and maintain data security and sensing tools, for endpoint sensing, Data Loss Prevention [DLP], threat detection and governance and data orchestration.
  • Develop robust data monitoring and sensing pipelines by routing telemetry from data governance tools and endpoint sensors into Splunk for centralized alerting and analysis.
  • Create Splunk dashboards, correlation searches, and alerts specifically focused on detecting anomalous data access, unauthorized data movement, and policy violations.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, ISSOs, and data owners to translate high-level data governance policies into technical enforcement rules within the security toolstack.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues between data catalogs, DLP agents, endpoint sensors, and enterprise SIEM platforms.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation mapping data flows, tagging schemas, and integration architectures.

Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
