Full Job Description
A Typical Day

Plan, administer and supervise ongoing safety and health programs to ensure a work place in accordance with all Federal, State (OSHA), local regulations and Hilmar Cheese Company policies and procedures. Conduct analyses and formulate procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents, health hazards and damage to life and property, maintain accident and illness records and other records required by law.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares written safety and health programs and policies.
  • Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Develops, evaluates and implements innovative concepts and controls for injury prevention.
  • Provide guidance and support to Participants in company occupational safety and health committee (Safety Team Program).
  • Reviews plant Safety Team Meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Develops, evaluates and implements innovative concepts and controls for injury prevention.
  • In coordination with Safety Project Coordinator and Project Manager, ensure the safety execution of construction projects.
  • Supports site as the primary resource for developing and approving fall protection systems.
  • Conduct general industrial hygiene tests such as: sound level surveys and air sampling.


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in related field plus 5 years' related experience, or Master's degree plus 1 year related experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for safety compliance with detailed knowledge of federal, state and local loss prevention regulations including combustible dust, ARP, OSHA, and state safety agencies.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in related field plus 7 years' related experience, or Master's degree plus 2 years' related experience.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • OSHA Authorized Outreach Instructor.
  • OSHA endorsement Annual completion of OSHA required safety training.
  • Four years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three years of industrial safety experience.
