  • Identify and mitigate on-site risks
  • Support business development during project execution

Full Job Description
LOCATION: We are seeking a professional who is located in the Albany, NY area.

HOURS: This opportunity is for a regular full-time salaried employee. The hours may include short periods of shift work due to construction retrofit work requirement that will need to be conducted when building occupants are out of the building. This will include working evening hours working within our construction team.

Future of Work: We envision this role being a local resource who would be able to commit to projects within the mid-Atlantic region. Future travel would likely be required at approximately 20-30%.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as SSHO, directly reporting to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Management System in accordance with ISO 45001 standards
  • Enforce the Safety Accident Prevention Plan and ensure adherence to safety protocols
  • Track and resolve safety and health deficiencies, maintaining an up-to-date deficiency list
  • Write safety proposals, interpret regulations, create training materials, and develop safety inspection tools
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with CEG's safety standards and site-specific regulations
  • Assist in managing project schedules and facilitating site access, including visits and deliveries
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks on-site
  • Support business development during project execution
  • Collect field data and images as required
  • Perform additional field or office duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety management and/or construction on-site fieldwork with strong computer documentation skills
  • Passion for energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability within construction and project management
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a government security clearance

  • Knowledge of safety and quality control standards and procedures
  • Familiarity with EM 385 and OSHA-30 certification is desirable; CSP or ASP certification is a bonus

PhysicalDemands and Work Environment

Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee where risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
