  • Salary Range: 78,000- 119,000 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)


Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:

Continuous Improvement Engineering supports construction and quality improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities, supporting data-driven reporting and analytics, and monitoring process performance and stability. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to drive operational efficiency, support continuous improvement activities, and enhance project performance using analytical tools, reporting systems, and process improvement methodologies. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops process improvements focused on construction efficiency and operational performance
  • Facilitates and leads small teams in low to medium complexity continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and supports implementation strategies
  • Utilizes intermediate causal analysis tools to evaluate issues and support resolutions
  • Leads Strategic Gap Analysis development and monitors action progress and effectiveness
  • Monitors process management systems to ensure process stability and continuous improvement
  • Independently leads senior-level reporting, performance metrics control, and data analytics initiatives using SQL, Power BI, and related tools
  • Proactively analyzes trends, identifies performance risks, and anticipates potential project or operational impacts through data-driven insights
  • Ability to develop dashboards and KPIs that translate data into actionable insights for decision-making and project control.
  • Performs complex assignments requiring independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Works under moderate supervision with latitude for professional decision-making


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Quality, Construction, or related field preferred.
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of experience as a Quality Specialist/Engineer, including experience supporting construction projects; or 6-9 years of relevant quality and continuous improvement experience.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification required
  • ISO 9001 Certified for QMS Requirements / Awareness. (Preferred)
  • ISO 9001:2015 Certified Auditor / Lead Auditor. (IRCA approved) - (Required)
  • SQL/Power Bi certification required


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests, and fast-paced project environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds and objectives.
  • Experience participating in Six Sigma process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify performance trends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Agile platforms, Aconex, and other database/reporting systems.
  • Ability to develop dashboards, performance metrics, and large data visualization tools to support project objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail with a process-oriented mindset and commitment to quality improvement.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to present reports, findings and recommendations clearly.

Most Important Knowledge and Skills Needed Upon Entry
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, risks, and recommend actions.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, dashboards, KPIs, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Six Sigma or similar improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to facilitate small teams and coordinate action plans.
  • Detail-oriented, process-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced site environment.
