Full Job Description
Railserve is hiring an experienced and safety-focused Site Leader in Augusta to oversee daily rail switching and industrial operations within an active customer facility. This is a full-time leadership role responsible for maintaining safe operations, developing employees, managing customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence across all site activities. Job Description The Site Leader is responsible for the overall management and performance of a Railserve operation. This role provides leadership for employees engaged in rail switching, track maintenance, transloading, equipment operation, and related industrial services while ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer expectations. This position serves as the primary point of contact for both employees and customers and plays a key role in workforce planning, safety compliance, operational execution, cost management, and employee development. The Site Leader works closely with regional leadership to maintain service quality, improve operational performance, and develop future leaders within the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and operational leader who enjoys developing employees, solving problems, and building long-term customer relationships in a fast-paced industrial environment. Schedule • Must be available to support all shifts • Schedule based on operational and customer needs • Nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call responsibilities may be required • Up to 10% travel may be required Compensation Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications • Bonus eligible position Duties Safety & Training • Maintain a safe work environment through employee training and operational oversight • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and regulatory requirements • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the operation • Maintain required certifications, qualifications, and training records Leadership Development • Lead, coach, and develop employees across all operational functions • Identify high-potential employees and support succession planning efforts • Develop work schedules and staffing plans to maintain operational effectiveness • Foster employee engagement and accountability Operational Efficiency • Ensure operations meet customer expectations and contractual obligations • Manage payroll, fuel, equipment, and operational costs • Oversee purchase order processes and site expenditures • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs with mechanical teams • Monitor operational performance and identify improvement opportunities Customer Service • Build and maintain strong customer relationships • Serve as the primary customer contact for operational issues and service needs • Ensure customer concerns are addressed professionally and promptly Administrative Responsibilities • Manage timekeeping, performance evaluations, reporting, and operational documentation • Complete customer and company-required reports accurately and on time • Support hiring, onboarding, employee development, and performance management activities Additional Responsibilities • Perform additional operational and leadership duties as assigned Job Requirements • High school diploma or GED preferred • 1+ years of supervisory experience in rail operations, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, or a related field required • Previous railroad experience preferred • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills • Strong communication and customer service skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and technical instructions • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and operational documentation • Ability to analyze operational data and performance metrics • Reliable transportation required • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check • Military experience is a plus What We Offer (Benefits) Railserve is committed to being an Employer of Choice, offering competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package: • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage • Company-paid employee and dependent life insurance • Company-paid sickness and accident income • 401(k) with company match • Annual safety shoe reimbursement • Prescription safety wear • Holiday pay • Vacation • Marmon employee discount program • Bonus eligibility Additional Information • Outdoor industrial work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions • Exposure to locomotives, railcars, heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and industrial operations • Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting • Frequent interaction with employees, customers, contractors, and regional leadership • Safety-sensitive leadership position requiring strict compliance with company and customer safety standards Grow With Us Don’t worry if you don’t meet every qualification.
