What You Will Do
The Manufacturing Plant EHS Manager III requires a technically skilled and culturally driven EHS Process Manager to lead critical safety and environmental initiatives within a complex, multi-site, matrixed manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a professional with 7-10 years of experience who thrives on influencing, driving continuous improvement, leading a team of multiple EHS Professionals across multiple sites, and embedding EHS values into operational excellence. You’ll own and elevate EHS processes and be a strategic partner across functional departments and sites.
How You Will Do It
Process Ownership & Compliance
Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures aligned with Canadian regulations, United States regulations, and ISO standards (14001/ 45001/ 9001)
Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses (JHA, HAZOP), and ergonomic evaluations.
Ensure compliance across multiple reporting lines and operational units within a matrixed structure
Manage environmental reporting, waste characterization, and regulatory submissions
Lead and participate in EHS audits and risk assessments
Partner with JCI Legal on regulatory and compliance topics
Data management with EHS information system
Culture & Engagement
Champion a 5Commitment to Safety6 culture through behavior-based safety programs and peer-led accountability
Facilitate safety committees and employee engagement forums to build ownership across roles and departments
Influence plant and functional leaders to integrate EHS priorities into daily decision-making
Creating a positive safety culture for your team
Training & Communication
Design and deliver tailored EHS training programs that resonate with both direct and indirect stakeholders
Communicate safety goals, performance metrics, and improvement plans transparently to multiple layers of leadership
Provide coaching and mentorship to cross-functional teams, helping them champion EHS in their own domains
Performance & Analytics
Track leading indicators such as near-misses, safety observations, and training compliance
Use lagging indicators to validate program effectiveness and identify improvement areas
Drive KPI performance
What We Look For
Required
Diploma in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field
7-10+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial setting
3-5 years of previous experience managing a team
3-5 years managing EHS across multiple sites
Proven success in influencing matrixed teams and driving cultural transformation
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, ISO 14001/ 45001/ 9001, and behavior-based safety systems
Proficient in EHS digital platforms, data analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, tailored to varied audiences
Preferred
EHS Certification (CRSP, NCSO, CSP, CHMM, CIH, PE)
Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodology

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $118,000 - 158,000 CAD (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
