About This Opportunity:

This position is accountable for managing the overall results of the Lethbridge plant from a manufacturing perspective, while strictly adhering to Food Safety and Quality requirements and providing superior customer satisfaction as a lowest cost producer. The Site Director is responsible for ensuring the plant operates using good manufacturing practices, in an environment that complies with health and safety and human resources standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for production costs, labour utilization, yield, and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company's Food Safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices, including the completion of BRC and audit targets.
  • Strive to continuously improve the reduction of operating costs.
  • Maintain and build a productive and positive employee relations environment through effective implementation of positive employee relations initiatives.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement Capital Improvement for plant, including the preparation and execution of a Capital Plant budget.
  • Responsible for preparing and executing the plant overhead budget, and direct product cost targets.
  • Strive to meet or exceed customer service level targets through the synchronization of process/activities with all functional area processes, from demand planning through to the delivery to the customer.
  • Manage the performance of the hourly and salaried team through effective implementation of all people related processes and policies.
  • Strive to meet all Health and Safety targets.
  • Support Sales and Marketing and Product Development on new product initiatives.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with all legislative bodies that impact plant performance.
  • Responsible for adherence to all policies and procedures for Quality Assurance, Food Safety and customer specifications on a day-to-day basis.

Skills & Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in business, operations, foods science, engineering, or agriculture.
  • Experience leading large teams in a manufacturing, unionized environment, preferably in the food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods industry.
  • Proven track record managing production targets, and cost and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong cost management and budgeting mindset with the ability to use KPIs to measure progress (i.e. throughput, yield, downtime, labour efficiency).
  • Demonstrated ability to build leadership capacity, with strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage others to drive performance and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements within a manufacturing environment (i.e. food safety, HACCP, health and safety).
