Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a senior-level
Simulation Software Engineer to support docking systems for the Orion program with NASA in either Houston, TX or Denver, CO. The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is NASA's next-generation spacecraft built to carry astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit - back to the Moon and eventually to Mars. As part of the Artemis program, this role puts you at the center of human spaceflight readiness, developing and maintaining the simulation software that NASA's Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) uses to train the crews who will fly these missions. If you are driven by a passion for space exploration and want your work to directly support the future of human spaceflight, apply today!
Key Duties: - Implement SOCRRATES and simulation software requirements for FOD Training updates beyond the Lockheed Martin baseline scope.
- Execute the full software development lifecycle per the software development plan, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation.
- Produce software deliverable updates following software development plan standard processes and applicable reviews.
- Provide onsite support at JSC and oncall support to FOD Training for Problem Analysis and Error Correction (PAEC), including troubleshooting, prioritizing, and rapidly resolving software issues to minimize training disruption.
- Provide dedicated FOD engineering changes and build support for Artemis III, including maintaining command and telemetry compatibility with Mission Control Center (MCC).
- Perform an Artemis IV requirement assessment with FOD Training to identify gaps and recommend simulation upgrades needed to support future mission training.
- Deliver monthly status reports on all assigned tasks.
