Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a
Simulation Software Engineer to support the Orion program with NASA in either Houston, TX or Denver, CO. The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is NASA's next-generation spacecraft built to carry astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit - back to the Moon and eventually to Mars. As part of the Artemis program, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the simulation software that supports crew training and spacecraft testing remains reliable and defectfree across both Artemis 3 and Artemis 4. Key Duties:- Investigate software defects and develop product updates for Orion MPCV Simulation and SOCRRATES software across Artemis 3 and Artemis 4 sustainment efforts.
- Perform defect resolution for code errors identified after verification is complete, spanning artifacts from Systems Engineering, Production, and Test and Verification.
- Track and update defect status in Jira through closure, maintaining accurate records throughout the resolution lifecycle.
- Update software documentation as needed to reflect defect fix changes.
- Provide continued code correction and maintenance throughout software use in test and flight operations.
- Resolve DDT&E Defect Deferrals to OPOC for both Artemis 3 and Artemis 4 program increments.
- Deliver monthly status reports on all assigned tasks.

- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- 5 or more years of general, full-time work experience.
- May be reduced with the completion of advanced education.
- 3 or more years of directly related experience in simulation or spacecraft software development.
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python software development.
- Strong software debugging and defect investigation skills.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education: - Experience with SOCRRATES (Software Only CEV Risk Reduction Analysis and Test Engineering Simulator) or comparable simulation environments.
- Familiarity with software sustainment practices, including postverification defect resolution and documentation maintenance.
- Experience supporting spacecraft software in test and flight operations environments.
- Knowledge of DDT&E processes or defect deferral workflows.
- Prior work supporting NASA human spaceflight programs.
