Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose of Job:
Responsible for the management of the patient care area 24 hours per day. Plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates all intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities related to department.

- Plans, implements, direct, delegates and evaluates patient care throughout department(s).
- Expert resource for nursing performance and ancillary staff consultant.
- Recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures.
- Assures regulatory compliance.
- Interviews, hires, and provides direction, appraisal, and discipline to nursing personnel.
- Plans, develops and implements annual competency evaluation for nursing personnel.
- Develops work schedules as assigned, adjusts daily schedules as needed.
- Participates in performance improvement, staff and patient education activities, and documentation.
- Promotes cost effectiveness, develops budget for department with Director and approval of CNO.
- Ensures distribution and delivery of supplies and equipment for patient care, monitoring utilization.
- Responds to all emergencies and disasters within the organization.
- Conducts and documents daily rounding throughout the department and with patients.
- Monthly documented caregiver rounds.
Job Requirements General Requirements
• Current License in the State of Michigan as an RN • ACLS • PALS, TNCC preferred
Work Experience
• Minimum of five years Med/Surg nursing experience. • Minimum of three years increasing responsibility in healthcare setting • Intermediate or Critical Care experience preferred
Education
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program • Bachelor's or advanced degree in nursing • Master's degree or advanced degree in nursing preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.
