Position: Signal Integrity Director - Cable Backplane Systems

Location: Raleigh, NC

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. The Cable Backplane Systems business is the fastest growing High Speed business and is currently seeking to hire a dedicated Signal Integrity Director to lead a team of 20+ engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Signal Integrity Director for our Cable Backplane Systems group, you'll lead a dynamic team designing copper-based I/O cable assemblies for high-bandwidth applications-supporting data rates up to 448 Gbps/lane. This role blends technical depth with team leadership and customer engagement across next-gen cloud, data center, 5G, and enterprise markets.
  • Guide a team of signal integrity engineers developing advanced cable-backplane systems. Communicating and working with customers and internal product managers to understand product requirements/performance specifications and convert those into new product designs, production tooling, manufacturing processes, qualification testing, and the transfer to volume production sites.
  • Translate customer requirements into innovative product designs and lead them through development, qualification, and transition to production. Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of engineering tasks
  • Collaborate with internal teams and global customers to define product performance and ensure engineering excellence. Coordinating with peers and other engineering managers within the organization to share best practices
  • Drive technology and product roadmaps, presenting vision and solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members, fostering technical growth and clear communication.
  • Share best practices across teams and champion continuous improvement in design methodology and workflow.
  • Solve high-speed design challenges including signal integrity, simulation, test methodologies, and production ramp-up support.
  • Supporting Sales and Applications Engineers to develop strategies for product break-in at existing and new accounts based on signal integrity and electrical engineering expertise
  • Supporting global factories for ramping up production; advising methods and experiments of builds, measurements, establishing test limits


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, M.S. preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering management, with proven experience managing high-speed signal integrity engineering teams.
  • Experience with engineering simulation and analysis tools, such as Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave
  • Experience with engineering measurements and debugging, such as TDR, VNA, pattern generators, error detectors
  • Experience in component design and application of high-speed cables/connectors into communications equipment is a plus
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams toward common goals.
