Role Overview:This role is for a Should Costing Engineer with expertise in the Medical Devices, Healthcare, or Life Science industries. The position involves detailed cost estimation, value engineering, and analysis of manufacturing processes and materials to optimize product costs during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for costing various commodities such as Injection molding, Stamping, Machining, Packaging, Electrical, and Electronics during the NPI phase.
- Responsible for costing process tooling and surface coating processes.
- Understand 2D and 3D drawings and models.
- Perform tear-down of assemblies/products if required.
- Creation of Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Generate Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VAVE) ideas.
- Conduct net surfing to acquire market information on various attributes like labor, process, and material.
- Interact with suppliers and industry experts to gain market knowledge.
- Program management, including creating and maintaining cost models.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Engage in learning and development to stay updated with the latest trends in global sourcing, including price trends, capacities, and processes.
Required Skills:- Should costing experience in Medical Devices, Healthcare, Life Science Industry, or Consulting Industry.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience in Should Cost estimation using excel-based tools or specialized tools like Clean sheet, DFM Boothroyd, aPriori, TCPCM.
- Understanding of CAD Tools (such as UG, CATIA, ProE).
- Expertise in Manufacturing and Assembly process planning, along with in-depth knowledge of Time Estimation for various manufacturing-related tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of Product Costing Methodology, Industrial Engineering practices, and Manufacturing Engineering practices.
- Detailed knowledge of industry materials costing, machine rates, operations, and processes such as Injection molding, Stamping, Machining, Packaging, Electrical, Electronics, and process tooling.
- Detailed understanding of surface coating processes.
- Hands-on experience in Value Engineering and Value Analysis.
- Certified Value Engineer is preferred.
- Global Supplier market intelligence.
- Ability to interact with internal and external customers on a regular basis.
- Good communication skills in English.
Qualifications:- Education: B.Tech (BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech) in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 6-12 years.
