DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our Troy Hill Operations Management Team as the 2nd Shift Shipping Manager 1 based out of Elkridge, MD
You will oversee the second shift Troy Hill Shipping operation. Troy Hill ships a variety of both production and repair parts to domestic, international, commercial, and government customers. The Troy Hill Shipping Team maintains high standards to meet and exceed customer and stakeholder expectations. You will have the opportunity to work with various functions to help drive success.
2nd Shift Hours – 3pm – 12:30am
What You’ll Get to Do:
- Supervise a team consisting of packers, planners, and logistic coordinators
- Support interplant movements of material
- Ensure safety and security policies are followed by staff
- Implement training and knowledge sharing amongst team members
- Work with the Shipping & Logistics Manager to plan work and discuss priorities
- Oversee packaging material storage and inventory
- Implement continuous improvement projects
- Build relationships with our Program, Contracts, Mission Assurance, Production Control, and Operations teams
- Monitor budgets, workload capacity, and forecasts
- Assist with shipping related questions and facilitate quick problem resolution
- Review and maintain the accuracy of employee timekeeping
- Ensure that team members have the materials, tools, equipment to process, pack, and ship materials
- Communicate with stakeholders concerning issues that may hinder the successful execution of shipping processes
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, material movement processing, transportation, Lean Six Sigma, or related fields, Master’s degree and 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, material movement processing, transportation, Lean Six Sigma, or related fields; 9 years of experience in shipping, logistics, material movement processing, transportation, Lean Six Sigma, or related fields may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
- Experience managing and/or leading people/teams
- Experience preparing, routing, and cost planning for domestic and international shipments via air, surface, and/or vessel
- Experience with Domestic Transportation Management System (DTMS) and MS Office applications
- Experience leading and presenting during meetings for teams, management, customers, and or vendors
- Experience driving cross training within a team, working to increase efficiency and single points of failure
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in transportation/logistics related field of study
- Proficiency with NGMS SAP functions
- Understanding of shipping practices and the differences in CONUS and OCONUS
- Experience working with and understanding Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) activities
- Experience in handling government shipments via DD250 or DD1149
- Experience with cargo & logistics documentation
- Understanding of packaging requirements for military and commercial shipments
- Certified training in process management (Lean Six Sigma or Agile)

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $157,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
